CID begins investigations into alleged corruption in school feeding in Ashanti Region

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into an alleged corruption in the school feeding program in the Ashanti Region.

About fifty three high schools in the region are reported to be engaging in corrupt practices on the program.

In a letter addressed to the GES Regional Director, the Service listed 53 schools to be investigated for alleged corruption in implementing the Free SHS Feeding Programme.

According to the Deputy Director-General, Anthony Boateng, the CID has informed GES about the ongoing investigation.

In Ghana, Bribe Givers Are Not Corrupt -The Noguchi Covid Positive-Negative Saga

I have followed Mr Kofi Acheampong and Noguchi Memorial’s covid positive to negative test saga. And I am extremely concerned with some of the comments I have seen and heard on social media praising the ‘heroic act’ of Mr Acheampong.

About 95% of the comments, I have seen and heard on social media seem to apportion all the blames to Noguchi. I am not going to add to it apart from my concern that I do not understand why no arrest has been made up to this point. Why the Ghana CID have not sent a high-powered investigating team to Noguchi Memorial Institute. In a pandemic, which is sweeping across the world, I think this singular evidence of criminal act and breach of trust and confidence should receive a national priority.

An update on 3 major unresolved corruption cases

In this blog post, we go back to 2019 to find out the status of three groundbreaking anti-corruption cases in our bid to pursue cases from start to finish, prevent impunity and ensure reform.

The cases we will be focusing on are the Galamsey Fraud case, the Missing Excavators case and the ‘Contracts for Sale‘ procurement scandal.

GALAMSEY FRAUD 

On Wednesday, 27th February, 2019, ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas released a 27-minute documentary titled “Galamsey Fraud Part One.” In an article published on Ghana Web ahead of the premier of the documentary, Anas authored the following: “A measure to minimize the mess and menace of illegal mining in the motherland is being undermined by men mandated to manage the menace, leaving Ghana at the mercy of mercenary miners and monstrous money-grabbers within the corridors of power.”
